Doug is adopted...yes the Greyhound Doug!

Well it finally happened. I've found my forever home. These nice people came and got me today. They have a girl and a boy....the boy took me on a walk with my human foster-sister. This boy let me kiss his face. Wow! how great!!! Anyway, they hung out at my foster home with me for a little while and my foster mom gave them some Christmas treats for me to take home. I think I'll like them. They have a CAR! Car rides are great. Anyway, been nice telling you my story, but I have new people to train and KISS. Bye!

Dunkin Donuts French Vanilla Coffee is the best

Ok so this holiday stuff is ok. Not sure why they have a tree in the house but I'm ok with that. My foster mom made these really yummy peanut butter pumpkin snacks for us and then a nap by the mini tree is great. Oh and by the way, the coffee to get is Dunkin Donuts French Vanilla. Wow it's great.

Ok more about my skill development. I haven't figured out the steps to go upstairs yet. The other dogs disappear up there but I'm ok down here. My mom says that's ok for now. I don't have any trouble on the other small sets of steps so I should be ok. The car is another wonderful thing. Wow she took me to a dance studio to pick up one of the kids. Good grief...petting mania! All the kids were in love with me and I was so well behaved. I also like the leash walks. They're great. ok...I'll update more later. This dude called Santa is coming next week. Wonder what he'll bring me?

I'm a Christmas Present....let me be yours

Ok these girls in this house are a little crazy, but they have the right idea. They wrapped me up as a gift! Contact Denise if you want me to be yours!

Available: Tax Accountant named Doug

Ok so now I'm offering a new business. I can do your taxes for you. I was caught this morning with the above listed item in my mouth. My foster mom says I was sneaking away. Doesn't sound good for an accountant does it?! But hey, I might steal your tax money but at least I haven't peed in the house!

More about me....

So ok on to the more important things. First of all, the other Doug…he’s just about up for adoption. My foster mom told him the other night he would lose his cell phone. So he must have done something really bad.
Now about me- here are some of my redeeming, charming qualities:
· I sleep in my crate all night in the dark by myself and don’t whine!
· I eat politely – boy my foster brothers are AWFUL. What pigs
· I can do short sets of steps. Foster mom hasn’t tried the big set. She doesn’t want to invite trouble by having me go upstairs to the bedrooms. Don’t know who trouble is but maybe he’d be fun too
· I am learning to walk on a leash · I like ALL people, and this weekend my foster mom said we were going to go for some rides in the car to get me used to going out places
· I have tried to chase the cat, but my mom says that it’s only ‘cause the cat runs.

PSST...I also found the couch...don't tell anyone! It's great.

Ok so off I go to another cushy nap place....I'll keep you posted. Let me know if you know someone that wants to adopt that human boy Doug. Otherwise contact Denise to see me!

Bah Humbug! Who needs decorations anyway?

So now they call me Scrooge! I really have nothing against Christmas. Honestly I know nothing about it except this lady literally lost her head...with a little of my help. So the picture on top has the wonderful picturesque, snowy, Christmas-lighted, decorator village scene. See the white fluffy cloth that is supposed to be snow? (NOT!- I saw the real stuff the other night. I'm no dummy. You can't fool me) Well Tuesday I was sitting in my crate...you can see the small section of it right next to this lovely scene....wondering what to do when I looked up and saw the white fluffy stuff staring right at me. It spoke to me and said, "Come. Take me and let's play" So I promptly stuck my cute little nose (seen in the other post) through the sections of the crate and GRABBED and PULLED. What fun. All the houses tumbled down!
Now there's a big barrier -some cardboard wall between me and the table.
Not sure why they wouldn't let me play with it. It seemed like fun at the time. Oh well. These people just don't know about Christmas Joy. Somehow the new set up isn't quite as festive!

I'm so sweet my foster mom says

DC Douglas has arrived

Well here I am ...Let me introduce myself. I am DC Douglas and I just arrived this evening. Quite a handsome chap in my tux don't you think?

Well in this picture is my counterpart, Doug. My foster mom said that it would likely be a debate as to which Doug would be placed up for adoption. Not sure I understand that. She said it depended on both of our behavior. I guess I shouldn't help her drive like I did on the way home. But really, I don't understand why I couldn't sit in her lap. She gives great kisses and Wow do I LOVE kisses!!

Ok well, gotta go. There's a lot to discover in this place....they have birds! Wow and a cat too. He is hiding in the basement. He just hisses at me. Oh well I guess I have some time to win him over.

PS- I'll let you know who is REALLY up for adoption

Elmo's found his gal

Well everyone, I've found my forever home and family. This really nice lady came and took me to her house. I charmed her from the beginning though. People think dogs are dumb but let me tell you I knew she was the one as soon as she came in the door. You know how it goes....she spotted me from across a crowded room and it was love at first sight! Well that's what it was. So she took me home. She had a stuffy and a rawhide in the car all ready for me. She's a smart chick! Anyway, ta ta for now!

I have some confessions...

OK, my mom told me I need to do some confessions. That I need to tell the public about myself. So here goes...

#1 I'm a hoarder. I manage throughout the day to snatch all the fluffies and put them in my crate. It makes me feel so secure.
#2 I'm a hidden player. My crate is in the dining room and my foster mom said that she hears me jumping and throwing things around. I won't admit it though. When she comes to check she said she has caught me throwing the toys in the air. Once I see her I stop and run to my crate. It's my little secret! Can't a guy have a guilty pleasure?!

Ok so here are some other updates. I've been going on some car rides. They're ok! Mom takes me in and out of places. Not sure what the purpose is but I see a lot of people. I even went to a football stadium the other night and saw a marching band! Wow was the sousaphone loud!!! Drums too! But I was brave...I was not scared (it's my tail...it makes me brave I think). The stadium had these big metal noisy stairs. I took them like a pro. Truth be told my foster brother, who's kind of a flake, was scared! Not me! I'm such a trooper.
Ok anyway, I have a possible forever home family coming to see me on Sunday....gotta go prepare or at least confiscate some more fluffies!

More Elmo - getting comfortable!

Elmo is here!

Here I am! My Name is Elmo and no I am not red nor do I come from Sesame Street!
Anyway I am a big boy that arrived yesterday and thank goodness these people have a crate. Wow there was just too much room and I needed some security and I found it. By last night I got more used to the house and people and have learned to ignore the birds...wow they're noisey!
Anyway, I have learned the small set of steps to the back porch...my foster brothers made it clear that this is the way in and out of the house! I found the cat this morning. He wouldn't let me sniff him at all. Party pooper! They also have these two wonderful girls here. They have talked sweet to me, sat in my crate with me and even took me on a walk. Wow was I upset when they walked out the door for the schoolbus this morning. Why can't I go with them?!
Ok some other things about me...I can't quite handle dealing with the other dogs at mealtime...for now I eat in my crate. It's safe there! Besides being a rich dark brindle with baby eyes, I have a novel tail It has a character of it's own. I guess it got broken when I was a wee pup. It doesn't bother me...hope it won't bother you. I'm too handsome to let that bother anyone! I like fluffy toys to toss around and wow a rawhide is great too.
Ok I'll write more later....need to check in on my crate.

Sonya's still here

Haven't been on here in a while. Sonya visited with another Greyhound family while we went on vacation. Amazing how she just fell back into the routine of the house when she arrived back 'home' after two weeks of being gone. Her coat is beautiful adn has gone from a fluffy brownish grey, to a glossy dark gray. She is quite the wonder dog.

Rumor has it that she is to be adopted by a family next week. They are one lucky family!

Give me more kisses!

Updates on Sonya

This is from foster mom this time....
Well Sonya has been here for a week and she is a wonderful girl. She walks nicely on a leash- she is quite dainty! She is also housebroken and only occasionally takes things...the ink pen for some reason seemed better than the rawhide chew-go figure! She also attended her first baseball game tonight and was quite interested in all the people and kids at the park.

Sonya is a great dog. Not demanding or high intensity but politely wagged her tail at the new people at the ball field and asked for a petting. Sonya responds well to 'no' and loves people and hugs but isn't too pushy. She even sat at watched fireworks this last weekend while the wimpy boy hounds ran around the yard like idiots or hid in the house. She would be a great companion dog for other dogs or hounds and a family with kids. She is an 'easy' dog and ignores the cat and birds -while in their cage- as well as the turtle. If you're interested in seeing her, please contact Denise.

Tough being a greyhound...but I have a new friend

Ok so I'm getting the hand of this hound thing.....laying around in the grass is great! I also figured out how to get up on the bed! No wonder my foster family sleeps in one...wow! comfortable.
Well I want to introduce you to my new friend....isn't he cute? He's a lawnmower. This boy here mows the grass and I love to follow him around. Kinda cool huh? Only problem is that the lawnmower, as they call it, won't pet me or kiss me! There were fireworks last night here too. The other dogs were so scared they barked! Me? I just watched. Wow they were pretty. My foster mom says I'm a little unusual. I just go with the flow no matter how loud or crazy.

Well that's it for now. The patch of grass in the shade is calling my name! Please call Denise or email my foster mom (kidproof@qis.net) if you're interested in meeting me. I am the catch of the day and will melt your heart forever!

Sonya' s best friend

Let me introduce you to my best friend. You see this young lady in the picture? Well she is my best friend, well one of them. My other is the other hound here named Jack. He and I race in the yard. The chick up above gives me lots of kisses. In fact, when I woke up this morning, I waited outside her bedroom door until she opened it.
Anyway, I have been adapting quite well to this house here. I steal recycling papers on occasion...the box for cream cheese is great. I also relocate the fluffies around here and have relocated a book or two off of a bed. The dog bed even changed rooms. Ha ha! these people got so confused. They all thought the other person moved the dog bed....NOT! it was me!

Anyway, I have adapted quite well. I love kids and people in general. I really pick up quick and learn anything you tell me.....as long as the payment is kisses! Please come see me. I am beautiful.

I'm sooo blue...because I need a home!

Hi ! My name is Sonya and I am a LOVEBUG!
I'm in a foster home as of last night and there is this really nice girl who I made friends with. She gave me kisses all the way home in the car last night. I on the other hand drooled ALL OVER the car. This girl's brother calls me slobber puss! That's not all there is to me though.

I am a beautiful, rarely seen blue Greyhound. My paws have white little tips...sorta looks like someone painted my toe tips! Then I have a little white on my chest. I am just beautiful and my personality matches.

I've only been here less than 12 hours but I met these two other greyhounds...they're boys- remember we fillies really rock. They are ok though. I get along with them as well as the cat. I slept in a little ball in my crate last night. Wow can I shrink into a roll.

Anyway, enough for now. Please come visit me I am the dog of your dreams!

Cruzecontrol has been installed into a new home....

Well I've found my forever home. This nice lady came to pick me up today and you know she brought this little mop thing with a nose. My foster mom told me it was a dog too. Ha! That's a dog?! Oh well. It seemed nice enough. Anyway, I was wisked away to a new home and my foster mom told her all my secrets...
I like to have my head gently petted, that an old bedspread on the floor is the PERFECT bed, I like some rawhides sometimes, and nothing beats a good walk especially with my new owner......
Best of luck Strongs...I know you'll miss me.

OMG!!!

Ok This is humiliating! Do you see us? We are dressed up as the 'family'
Let me explain...there are three preteen girls here...yes three, and they decided that the old dress up stuff they used to use would look good on us....NOT!
Jack is the one in the tie-died shirt on the left, he's supposed to be the baby-note the bib. Mustang is in the middle. Not sure who he is supposed to be, and there I am on the right end with a tu-tu on!
I did try to tear it off as well as Jack's clothes. It was such fun in the backyard. Ok get this...the girls took us on a walk across the street! How embarassing!
You want to know the REALLY embarassing thing? I kinda like it! I will sleep like a rock later that's for sure.

Anyway, please please someone contact Denise Davis and help me...(pssst - Denise- be careful who you send next to this foster home-these people are NUTS!)

Not sure why I ever raced...this is far better!

Not sure what that racing thing was all about! This is far better...I am truly a greyhound!
Did you know that my foster mom looked up my racing history and I won 3 first places. One was even on her birthday last year. I must have known I would be staying here. Flattery never hurts.
Anyway, it has been an relatively uneventful day after the morning. Wow one of my foster brothers peed on the floor. Whew! did she yell. I didn't like that and just hung out in my crate. How stupid can you be?! (of course truth be told I lifted my leg a couple times the other day too-ha! won't do that again) Of course this is the same dog that ran the track in the back yard in the pouring rain. Again, how stupid can you be?! Lucky for you who wants to take me home, I'm brighter than that. Can't you see it in the picture?

Me and my friend....

Let me intruce you...this is the enemy. Not sure what it does but boy is it loud and things disappear from the floor when it goes by! Yikes! I might be next!
Anyway, a couple of other things about me, besides my fear of this 'thing'...
I can handle stairs...they're not so bad. I did really well in my crate last night. NO whining at all. In fact it was pretty nice there. Don't tell the other dogs this, I really don't think they've noticed, but I have confiscated most of the stuffies and other toys and taken them into my crate. What a stash I have.
I went out this morning to play in the rain with the brindle dog here. We played catch and ball. I play those games pretty well. Then I came in and parked myself in the best bed of all...The pile of old bedspreads! This thing is great. The older dog-Mustang thinks so too. Look up above the enemy...don't we look cute together?

CruzeControl is here

Well I'm here...who am I? Well I am the best invention yet-

CRUZE CONTROL!

Anyway I arrived here earlier today and have already made one of my foster brothers a little mad. Not sure what I did...oh yeah, I licked mom. I really like people so I couldn't help myself. I guess he doesn't like to share.
My mom has some initial notes about me:

  • I am a lovey boy- hugs are great, kisses too
  • I love attention and if you call me in a fun voice (pretty much call me anything since I don't really know my name) I will come to you wagging my tail
  • I took a walk with my brothers this afternoon and did pretty well on a leash
  • I take direction well and so far respond to the 'mean voice' quickly- remember cruze control always aims to please...just set the speed and I'm there
  • I like my crate...in fact it's kinda cool to be in there just for the heck of it
  • I like to play with they stuffy toys and rawhides. I also like to jump and play with the other dogs (maybe that's what made them mad too!)

So that's all there is for now about me. If you like me, and I certainly do, contact Denise and maybe we can meet.

A little about us....

We are the Strongs and began our jouney with greyhounds about 4 1/2 years ago when we adopted our black and white male, Mustang. He is now our authority figure. Or at least he thinks so. If he could talk, he would just shake his head and ask what's wrong with these young kids today - in regard to the foster greyhounds.
Next came our former foster dog, Jack. He's about 2 years old and his name Jack fits.....Jack Be Nimble, Jack _ss, and Jack in the box. He is quite a character and wasn't adopted due to his growling at prospective parents. Not the best way to convince people that you are the dog of their dreams! Of course now that we've adopted him, that never happens. I think he had alterior motives, huh?!

Fluffy is forever home!

Ok, I'm outta here. Enough boys around this house. This nice lady and her two girls came to get me today. They drove about two hours to come and see me. Now they really know how important I am! Oh and they brought this short little guy and wow did his face taste good! I got in their van and you know what they had? A van full of treats for me...ok I guess it was just their chips but I was taught to share so they should too, huh?! Anyway, you should see the bed they got me! It's beautiful. I am definitely going to get the princess treatment that I deserve.

Anyway, I'm in my home now and will need to begin training this new family. Wish me luck!

Settling in with Fluffy

Ok, here I am in a home. There are two other greyhounds here but they are boys. Too bad for them! Girl Power! The other one with white just looks at me with disgust. I really don't know why. Don't all dogs try to empty the dishes from the dish drainer? The people here were also worried about me and the steps. Ha! no problem. I took them like a champ. And guess what? They have a BIG bed here. Wow did you know that three people AND three greyhounds can actually fit on the bed?! We watched a movie last night. I actually watched some of it but when the dogs in the movie barked I was outta there! No dog is gonna jump through the TV at me!

Anyway, I am quite a catch. I LOVE people. They are soooo cool. Some of my other skills are: pushing doors open- ha! can't keep me out you silly people! counter surfing (they keep hollering "no" at me...wonder what that means?!), ball playing, and my foster mom says I'm a good girl in the crate at night and during the day. I also wait in there patiently until my foster brothers get their food first. By the way, what happened to "ladies first?!" I have some teaching to do here!

Ok, I've attached some pictures with the right gender. GIRLS (ok one has the one of the other male greyhounds and a boy that lives here too)
If you're interested in seeing me please let me know. I'm quite the charmer.
